Hello, Barb here from Chicago, Illinois.
I know some of you from another forum. I don't have a gecko, but do have a Uro, new baby Beardie and tortoises. Love all reptiles though.

Welcome, Barb!

If someone twisted my arm and said I absolutely HAVE to have a lizard, I would get a bearded dragon. I think they are just the neatest looking critters.

You will love this one. So cute and friendly. The way he watches every move you make is too cute too with the all the head tilts. I had one before that was just as calm. Had to have another.

Welcome. I have mostly geckos, but a few non geckos including: 2 beardies, a brown anole that hitched a ride from FL to MA, a trio of red eyed tree frogs. I also enjoy the beardies a lot. They get to roam the living room every morning before I go to work and spend a lot of time with me in the summer on my second floor front porch.

Aren't you afraid you'll lose them?

Thank you for the welcome. I had some anoles at one time. I rehomed them. I just couldn't keep them from getting out. I also had a pair for Red Eyed tree frogs. They died last year. They are my favorite frog, so beautiful.
I can't wait till this little beardie has some size on him so I can take him out more and not worry about him fitting in or behind things where I couldn't get him out.

Bearded dragons are pretty big (the male is about 18"). In the house, I close off my living room and dining room so they can roam. I know which pieces of furniture they tend to hide under, so it's not a problem. When they're outside on the porch, it's a small space to they're hard to lose track of (I don't leave them out there unsupervised). Occasionally I take them out to the street level when I'm gardening. They each have a harness with a long, brightly colored "leash" mostly so I can keep track of where they are.
I have a leopard gecko (much smaller) that escaped as a hatchling in 2013 and was found in my basement in 2015! She was in surprisingly good shape, likely because of the number of cricket escapees in my house.

I used to set mine on a log on my window sill. He would just sit there for hours. Only one time he got down from there to investigate. I
I also would take him outside on a harness. He would just freeze where ever I put him. Never would walk around. Not sure if it was the harness or the big outside that made him not want to move.
