Gecko's Tail need amputation?

I have an AFT and the tail tip is dark and the blood vessels in it seem to have died. It has become very hard in comparison to the rest of the tail. I think this was due to a stuck shed. What do I do at this point? The shed was over 3 weeks ago so warm water might not work at this point.

Does the tip need to be cut off? Would that be better so that if it gets infected it doesn't spread off? I obviously don't want to put the poor thing through this but I wouldn't want her health suffering any more than it has to.

Any thoughts?

Get it to a vet and have them amputate it. Wouldnt reccomend trying it yourself.

The tail has certain fracture plains in it. It normally falls off at the base, or around the middle, easier than the tip.

Yep, but if it doesnt fall off it begins to rot, YOU DO NOT WANT THIS under ANY circumstance. If it rots you have a serious problem. Make sure you get that tip off ASAP. Amputaion just means they will cut it off at the closest segment to the injury but its not always reccomended you try this yourself.
