General 1yr old LG Questions

Hello,

I have had my first LG for about 6 months and he's now around 1 year old. I wondered how long I should expect him to grow before reaching full size. He was at 115G last month and he dropped to 113G this month. Also, he has not been eating as much for the last 6 - 8 weeks going from 10 - 15 mealies every other day down to 4-6.

Other than the above observations, he appears healthy and active as usual. As a first time owner, I wanted to know if these are some early warning signs to be concerned about or if its a pretty typical pattern as a LG reaches full size/adulthood.

I have found there to be a big appetite drop off in late juvi/early adulthood as well as a drop off in eating during the winter. At 1 year and over 100 grams your leo is probably close to full grown unless he's a giant. I have found that my leos are pretty close to full size at a year but it takes another 6 months to a year for most of them to finish bulking up and getting to a more permanent size.

110g is quite large unless it is a giant as Aliza said earlier. Even if he does lose a couple more grams I don't think it would be detrimental to his health. Several of our males don't eat as much during breeding season (even if they aren't breeding) and lose 5-10 grams. They pick back up late spring to early summer and gain that right back.

He is a giant that I picked up from T-ReXx and his parents were both in 110 range so I'm guessing he'll hover around that weight as well.

Thanks everyone for the feedback, it's been very helpful in putting my concerns to rest. I'll expect to see him gain a little in the spring then but if I continue to see his weight going down I'll post back for suggestions.
