General Care Questions

Hi, so I'm getting a leopard gecko in a couple days and I still have a few questions.
Do I need to have a calcium dust without D3? I have Rep-Cal phosphrous-free calcium with D3 and some people were saying that you also needed a calcium dust without D3. I also have Rep-Cal herptivite with beta carotene multivitamins.
What would be better to use for feeding? Crickets or mealworms? Or should I use a combination of both?

I leave a dish of pure calcium w/out D3 in the enclosure at all times for them to pick at as needed, and dust with D3 once a week. I don't leave D3 in the enclosure. As far as I know, there has never been a documented case of hypervitaminosis due to D3 in leopard geckos, but I feel it's better safe than sorry. I dust with multivitamins every other week.

Variety is always beneficial in the diet, crickets and mealworms both work great in combination as a staple diet.

You should normally have 3supps, cal, cal+D3, Vitamin.
I just use Rephashy Calcium+, its a 3 in one.

Crickets and mealworms are a good combined staple.
