I wouldn't you don't know what they have been exposed to..if you grouped off a few and bred them, the 2nd generation I would think would be pesticide free enough.

But not straight off the floor.

Pest species cocroaches almost always have traces of pesticide. And yes they climb and if they escape they will reinfest your house. Do yourself a favor and hire an exterminator and start a colony of non-climbers like dubia or lateralis.

when I was a kid I lived in gheto appts. I got a green anole, and fed it some of the roaches, needless to say it was dead in a month, then I cought a toad and put it in the tank, and fed it the roaches, and it was dead in a few weeks. thats when I put it together that it was the roaches.
