It's odd but I kind of like tortilla lol. That or Morocco....or coconut. What kind of calcium powder or dust do you use? I use Fluker's calcium with vitamin d,phosphorus free. Is this ok? I know the dust is good for the geckos but it's annoying when I spill some on the reptile carpet and have to try to rub it in because it won't come up.Now I have big white spots all over the carpet.

I use what's called "Bearded dragon plus" because it's exactly the same formula as the leopard gecko brand for the same company. It works nicely, and smells slightly sweet. I think that brand should be fine, though. Haha, I'm sorry about the spills. Your gecko probably won't mind though. I like your name suggestions! I really like coconut though, because of his brown and yellow. Coconuts, fresh ones from real trees, are delicious! Tortilla is funny too. ;) I like... Cappuccino, Speckles, Jungle, Rain, or... hmmm, that's all I can think of right now. :)

S/he has explored the tank completely and whenever I sneak over s/he looks at me then just walks away lol. S/he is quite a character:p

Hehe. Sooo cute! It's goot that s/he is exploring. My lil guy/girl was too funny the first day. I put my face near the glass and s/he stalked right up and put her nose against the glass and stared at me. :)

Hehe, I just realized I accidently said goot instead of good. Oops! Haha. ;) I'm sure that's where s/he is. And is that her/his name? coolio! Or are you testing it out. ;) I only named my guy Pepper because I thought s/he would be all speckly, but it turns out she's a baldy, so she won't have many spots. :)

I just found Cappuccino is his or her hut and it didn't come out. Well me being the worry wart I am moved the hut. Cappuccino wasn't too happy and crawled away. Well I decided to try something. I laid my hand down in the tank and kept moving it toward Cappuccino. I was afraid I would stress him/her out too much so I was about to stop when all of a sudden Cappuccino crawled onto my wrist!! I was so happy but a few seconds later he/she crawled off. But this is still some progress!

A lot of people, myself included, seem to like the Repashy brand Calcium Plus supplement powder. It comes in a plastic jar with a red top and yellow gecko face on the front. I had to order it online because most of the pet stores sell an older formula, if they even sell Repashy at all. I haven't seen it on the shelves very often.

Anyways, it's supposed to have the proper balance of everything they need, including vit D3 and phosphorus. There's a lot of threads on here about proper supplementation, but there is so much info and different opinions/methods that it makes me feel like I'm being kicked in the brain. So I went with the simplest suggestion posted by someone who I know has had geckos for many many years.

So I use the Repashy to dust insects, and I keep a bowl of plain calcium without phos or D3 in the tank all the time.

P.S.--The Repashy has what most people think is a nice smell. Like bananas or something. Every time I smell it I want to eat some. But the bottle clearly says it's not for human consumption. And I'm sure it doesn't taste as good as it smells :D

Hehe, you don't have to give me credit! It's fine. :D Very kind of you though! And I think it's very cute that Cappuccino crawled onto your wrist already. :) Oh, I forgot to tell you! I have exactly the same 10 gallon for my gecko. It's got the same lid and base. Cool. :) Congrats!

Okay but will what I have work and keep my gecko healthy?

What you have should work fine, but you'll want to get some without D3 to keep in the dish.

I got my baby gecko from PetCo, and I have no idea how long she had been there. She was awfully thin, but I fell in love with her and I brought her home anyway. It has been a couple months, and she's plumping up quite well, is happy, and full of personality. She stalks and hunts me whenever she wants me to add more mealworms to her bowl, lol.

And to answer your handling question, I handled her the day I brought her home. She seemed sad and scared, so I thought she would appreciate a warm hand. She did! She loves being handled now, although if you surprise her she hisses at you, which is actually pretty funny. She likes to climb up your shirt or arm and explore.

Cute gecko!I put the calcium I have in the dish now and Luigi just stuck the tip of his tongue in it one time:p He doesn't like being handled much right now but he has a good appetite so that's all that matters.

The calcium you have will work fine for the bowl and cricket dusting for now. It took me about a month to actually find calcium without D3 I could buy, and I ended up having to order it. Four pet stores, and no one carried it. -_-
