Ok, After 2 weeks of thinking about and doing research I have narrowed it down to a giant gecko or a blue tongue skink. I am being drawn towards the skink but still really like the giant geckos. I have the basic care and a basic idea how their general personalities are. So I guess I have a few questions that will most likely decide what i'm going to get.
#1 On a scale of 1-10 how bad does B.T.S. poop smell.
#2 Do B.T.S. easily lose their tails?
#3 Do Giant geckos drop their tails easily?
#4 Will handling a giant gecko everyday stress them out / do they like to be handled?

1) reptile dropping for the most part all smell the same(monitors are an exception). It's quantity that changes how much odor you get. Of course if you are correctly caring for the animal and doing regular cleanings there should be no odor.
2) Blue Tongued Skinks don't drop their tails.
3) Yes, leachies can tail drop quite easily if stressed.
4) Yes. No reptile "likes" being handled. They either tolerate it,or don't. Short handling sessions(10-20 min) daily wouldn't necessarily stress a leachie that much, but leachies have varying personalities, some are mellow, some can be quite aggressive. If you are looking for an animal that you can handle regularly I would go with a captive bred Blue Tongued Skink. With leachianus it's always a bit of a gamble what their adult personality will be, and they all tend to be rather territorial(read: likely to bite when you stick your hand in their cage). Once picked up, most leachies are fine, but not all are.

i have a BTS, they get bloody big and need a lot of room. i didnt think they could drop their tails. though they are nervous animals. even as adults mine seems nervous and jumpy all the time. he doesnt mind handling, though when he's adult its a bit awkward to bhold him. and i cant say ive smellt the poos :p lol
