How long and how much weight would you guys say a female has to hit before she is considered a giant? Super Giant? Ive seen all kinds of charts for males but none for females.

thanks

Per Ron Tremper:

Female giants should be 60-90g by 1 year of age
Female super giants should be over 90g by 1 year of age

Although I would say these days, geckos weigh a lot heavier than they used to be due to fatter feeders like mealworms & superworms. Just because you have a female that hit 60g, it doesn't make it a giant.

You usually can tell by their appearance, giants/super giants are longer, have bigger heads, larger body structures, thicker neck/torso, etc.. Knowing the parents' genetics help also.

It is generally suggested that a Giant female will be 60 grams at one year of age, and a Super would be 90 grams. Unless you know the origins of your animals, though, I wouldn't use weights to determine their genetics. Overall length can be helpful, especially with supers. Giants are a bit more subjective, though. I have a diablo blanco non-giant female that reaches 70 grams in the winter, but next to my 70 gram Giant designer female, she just doesn't look as big.

Make sure that the gecko is from a genetic giant gecko. I have had geckos reach 125+ and had no Giant gene in them. Also Giants are not just weight but also length is a key factor as well...or you can have a fat gecko and call it a Giant.

weight is not a good thing to go by. the length and size is a better judgement. But like Enigmatic_Reptiles said make sure you know were it came from.

Ive got 2 giants, from genetic giant to giant breeding. they are 2mo 12 days and 13days and have surpassed my hatchlings from january. The do have extended heads and tails, aswell as weighing 36g -female, 34g- Male. Its very obvious when they are compared to a normal sized genetic gecko. Im guessing my female is a super but only time will tell, I only feed them mealworms just like the rest of my leo's and they have doubled in weight compared to my normals.

Ron Tremper suggests as far as breeding giants, they should start to be bred only after atleast 60-70g just a note I took out of his book.

Thanks, This is the first time ive worked with giants. I have a Giant male Nova (avatar pic) from fallen angel geckos. I know giants look longer than normals but is it easy to tell when compared to a clutchmate? My first 2 eggs from him should be hatching any day now. Im planing on selling most of the hatchlings so I dont want to mislabel anything.

About how long should a female giant be?
