Thanks John. I totally understand about why you can call it a DB because of both parents being homo. It just seems that some geckos are being labeled as something simply because of the parents. I personally would like a gecko to show visually the traits it was supposed to exhibit. Then again, if all a gecko is bought for is to be bred then as long as it has the genes you need, then who cares what it looks like...right??? Thanks again John.

That is the tough part. I ordered this gecko "big and pure white", understanding that it might not have perfect eyes. Once it is bred to the other db the giant hatchlings should be big, white, with fuller eyes. I do love how he is sooooo white you can't tell by looking at the nose. There is a new thread in morphs and genetics that better describes why John refers to the parents to tell the morph.

For amber.. I dont know the parents since it wasnt my gecko but ryan said when he bought it.. as a baby it had red eyes that faded into the slight tint like Morgans..

So i personally chose to say thet the gecko is only HET for the eclipse. the small amount of fading IMO isnt enough to call it.. But then again thats just me.

I also dont like to call banded raptors raptors

Bravo! You nailed it! They should be labeled according to what they are exhibiting. If you need to say..."from so and so parents but not showing visually" or it's "het", I think that's being honest and responsible. I wish people would label their "emerines" this way. It's either green (nailed it) or it's from emerine parents (missed it). Unless it's bright orange your going for and not concentrating on the green, which is what that morph is supposed to be? I don't know.

Personally when I choose my breeders, I look for the best genetics in both the parents as well as the best looking VISUAL traits I'm going for. To each his own.

But seriously Morgan, congrats. It's a beautiful white gecko!

Not every morph is easy to come by and those that are not easily found tend to come with a high price tag. Giant Diablo Blancos are not readily available and so Morgan purchased what he could get/afford. (I dont see any Giant DBs on geckosetc.com website) The gecko exhibits the genetic traits he wanted and with line breeding can be enhanced over generations.

Some people like the look of a partially filled eye over a solid eye. Maybe it would be cool to breed geckos that have normal or almost normal looking eyes but white noses and feet?
It is all up to the breeder to determine what they want from what they have and what is available, etc.
