I am considering ordering some mealworms from LLLReptile and they have both giant mealworms and superworms. Which is better for leopard geckos and what is the difference?

Giants are sprayed with a hormone that slows down the process of pupation(It doesn't stop all of them)...people say they can't breed and are sterile, but they can, I have 1000 meal worms from about 30 giant meal worm beetles. Giants are smaller than super meal worms. For some reason since a lot of the giants don't pupate, they just stop growing and die(at least this happened to me a lot...) I guess for a lot of people the hormone freaks them out, but it has never caused ill effects on any of my reptiles.

Superworms are bigger and meaner!! haha I've seen a few bite my critters and they get peeved! My fire skink won't eat them any more because one grabbed on to the inside of his mouth and I had to help him get it out..My superworms in the bajillion months I've had them have only produced ONE beetle haha..not much for breeding since he's triple the size of the other beetles..

The supers I've noticed fill up the animals better, rather than feeding 30 meal worms all the time, you can feed 5 or 6 supers.

I prefer supers, most of the giants I get die, maybe 1/3 turn into beetles.

Sounds like I am going with superworms. Anyone bought them from LLLReptile before?

I'm starting to look at mealworms Giant or not the same way I see crickets... As the devils spawn. It literally would take anywhere between 10-15mealies to fill up my gecko BUT now that I use supers she's done with like 3-4 of them and I like the fact that they never seem to stop moving!

Supers are a BIG change those because they are like 10x's bigger than regular mealworms, lol. At least that is how I felt when I first layed eyes on them.

No I have never used LLLReptile but I used http://www.sunshinemealworms.com/ for an order of 250 supers and they literally got here in 3days. Each order seems to be processed personally because you send in your order then someone writes you back with all the charges asking you if that works for you. I really liked them :)

What do you mean dropshipped? What kinds of problems have people had, do you remember?

The website linked to above just says they are out due to the national shortage.

I ordered mealworms once from LLLreptile and didnt have any problems. They can be a little expensive so I would recommend a bug farm for a better deal but if no one else has bugs then it might be ok. I only ordered from them once so thats not a guarantee that they are good.
