Giant and Super Giant Leopard Geckos are genetically predisposed to become giants, which is believed to be a genetic mutation. They have the same temperament as normal sized leos, can be any pattern or color, and there's no real visible way to identify a giant from a normal sized leo until they're 1 year old.

Giants can be 90-110 grams and super giants at over 110 grams in 1 year.

I have also heard from other people as well as myself, to an extent, that some giants tend to be a bit more mellow than normal leos. Also, you can tell if they will be giants before they are a year old. It's even possible to tell right out of the egg sometimes. Usually they reach their maximum size at a year to a year and a half.

I haven't really looked into buying any Giant Leopard Geckos, so I don't know all the breeders for them, but the ones I do know for sure are Ron Tremper @ LeopardGecko.com and Steve & Debra Sykes @ GeckosEtc.com (The links go directly to their Giant Leo Availability Page). Looks like the cheapest one is $75 on GeckosEtc's site and $650 on LeopardGeckos.com with the average price around $200-$300.

Actually Steve, your skills at being able to tell a giant from hatching is questionable;) I bought that albino male, Ahnold's son from you.. And he was no giant my friend..

You can usually tell though, some just grow exponentially. The eggs are also larger usually.

Some get very long quickly, some get large and heavy quickly. Some get both. Some just seem to grow to forever.

I have some Giants available if you're interested.

We got what we believe is a super giant female this season. She was longer than her parents at two months.

They are really my favorite.

This is just for fun...but maybe it´s a little suiteble in this threed.

We bought our first Super Giants in Hamm...the male is one year, 130 grams and 29 cm, and still growing.

A week before we went to Hamm, we got this Afghanicus as a present. It´s soon two month old and weigh 3-4 grams :)

Many hypothesize that they are more mellow because in the wild they would be intimidating to others and wouldn't have to compete as much for food and mates.. I just think their big lazy Leos.. :)

They are really my favorite.

I love our giants and super giants. Ours all have much calmer temperaments than the normal size ones. Eventually I'd love to create a super giant version of every morph! We have a few giants and super giants available but I'm terrible at updating our website. Feel free to pm me and I can send you pics and prices.

I have a 139 gram (as of yesterday) Super Giant Mack Snow, named Rueben.

He's a retired breeder and just a pet now but he's the biggest Leo I've ever seen..

here's a pic..

The few giants I have are like others have said calm as can be and very friendly. On the other hand I have a couple of smaller Geckos that wont be touched at all because they are so jumpy and skidish

Fantastic monsters guys! Thanks for showing them. I picked up a 115 gram male reverse stripe at Daytona this year from Ron, he looks young judging from his claws and preanal pores - just had to have one to have one.
