Going away, what to do with incubation?>

I'm going away for a day, and I won't come back until the next. I have an egg in incubation, and I fear it'll die while I'm gone due to temperature spikes. It's incubating 83-85 right now, and lately it's been rough keeping the temps accurate. I'm panicking right now, and I don't have any friends that can help me with the temps that are close by. Can anyone help please? I'm really hoping I can get help by tomorrow:(

Some people have said that putting a container of water at the bottom of the incubator helps regulate the temperatures. The best solution is a proportional thermostat, which would be hard to get by tomorrow. If the temp fluctuation is just 2 degrees, I wouldn't worry too much. I have a fluctuation like that even with my proportional thermostat and the eggs hatch fine.

I put water in the water dish thing under the mesh. It's hard to keep the temps steady for a whole day though, when I'm gone, and I can't do anything about it. I'm sorry if I sound a bit snippy, but I'm sort of freaking out, because we're going away on short notice, my Grandma is in hospice(24 hour care), and my other Leo should lay eggs soon this week.

Ok, thanks Jason. I came back today, and the temps were in the 86's, so I guess I should be counting on this little bugger coming out as male.

Possibly, but if you were hoping for a female, I wouldn't give up just yet! 86 is still in that range of producing a mixture of both sexes (although it is at the high end of the range)...glad to hear everything went okay while you were gone...good luck with your egg!

i use quart size baggies, i fill them with luke warm water, and put them in the corners of the incubator. this keeps the temps stable and humidity around 60-70 percent. hope this helps

put it in a dark room. maybe a cupboard or a bathroom... i've found that helps. is your incubator home-made or like a hovabator?

Thanks guys, it toughed through it*nods*. When I came home, the temperature was at 88, but 4 degrees warmer that hoped for probably won't make a difference. Cody, I'm using a Thermal Hovabator. Thanks!

Thanks, I hope so. The thing is though, is that I don't know how long it has been like that. I'm not picky about the sex of the geckos.

Well I hope you have a scale that weighs grams. If they are boys, you should be able to visually see around 15-20 grams and then house them separately. If females they can stay in the same tank together.
