Has anyone got a Gold Dust Day Gecko - Any pictures?
Can you tell me about the care of them?
Are males or females better?
What sort of enclosure do they need? - Can they be housed in a wooden viv thats 2 foot wide?
What substrate can be used?
What can you feed them on?
Are they easy to handle?
Plus anything else you can think of.

I have had one for the past 3 or 4 years (can't remember). Mine is housed in a planted vivarium, about 24"x24"x12" with a coco fiber and sphagnum moss substrate. A wood enclosure is not a good idea because you will be spraying them frequently and I can't imagine that would be good for wood. They eat small crickets and "nectar" which in my case is peach baby food with supplement added. They are not geckos that can be handled. Mine is pretty reclusive and sometimes days go by when I don't see her, though I've heard that other people see theirs more often.

Setting up their viv requires some research and experience, but once it is set up, maintaining it is relatively easy. Giving complete information about the set up is way too long for a post, but I recommend you get this book: "Day Geckos in Captivity" by Leann and Greg Christenson" published by LIVINGART publishing (www.livingartpublishing.com). There is only a single page about each type of day gecko, but there are extensive care instructions. In addition, you may want to visit phelsuimaweb.com which is a set of forums all about day geckos.
