Does anyone know of a good HTML book that I can learn from as a beginner? I was looking at the HTML for Dummies books, but there are just so many of them :D !

So, anyone have some recommendations? I know I can use programs that don't require knowledge of HTML, but I would like to learn it (again--I learned a little of it in high school).

To be perfectly honest, I never found an HTML book to be all that helpful. They really sat on my desk and were used when I wanted to look something specific up, although now it's probably easier just to google for it (http://www.w3.org/TR/html401/cover.html for HTML 4.01 spec [see quick table of contents]).

Also, you can do a lot of learning by viewing other people's source and looking at formatting examples and templates (http://www.oswd.org/). The other thing you can do is use a program that lets you flip between code and WYSIWYG, so that if you get stuck you can let the program do the work and see what code it generates.

Just my $0.02, take it for what its worth
