Good Idea?

I thought of this idea a while ago and started using it, wanted to spread the word.
I have a little dish for mealies, and I keep mealies in there most of the evening+night. I thought one day...what if I put calcium in the bottom in the bottom of the bowl. I put 20 mealies in the dish with a bit of calcium and shake it around. The mealies get a light coating of it, and when the geckos snatch at it, they get some extra calcium at the bottom of the bowl. Just like dusting them :D.

I have done that for a long time now. I also do this with my super worm dish. Now if I could just find a dish that worked with roaches I would be set. lol

I stated putting roaches in a clear glass petri dish. They can get out if they
really work at it, but the leos dont give them enough time! ;)

After they are 2 months old, I stop putting the overnight food dish in there.

One time, my female (?) snow pooped in it, and I didnt discover it until I got home from work (she also pooped in the water dish the very next day)! :main_angry:

I have taken to feeding my leos one food item at a time with my feeding tweezers. I make sure they eat the one I give them before putting another in there. This is a bit of a pain, if if you have several leos, it would take forever. But at least that way, I know how many they eat, I dont have to chase down un-eaten bugs, and I dont have to worry about bugs eating the gecko poop!! :)

Also, if you can find a glass petri dish (I cheet, I work in a lab!!) that at least 1/2 high, you can put roaches in it, and they wont go running around looking for a place to hide. Since the dish is clear glass, my leos can see whats in it, and the poor little roaches never get a chance to figure out how to escape from it before getting eaten!!
