what'd be some good morphs under $50 to start a colony, i was thinking 1 male (duh) and 2-3 females.

Maybe some stripes would be a good start and you may even be able to mix in some albinos as well. Just make sure you read up on your albino genetics before you start.

Are you looking for some thing other then a normal or something really crazy like a RAPTOR?

Do you have any leopard geckos at this time? (I didn't see any listed in your critters in your signature...) If not, I would recommend only getting one female at first and keep it for awhile before starting a breeding project. Once you have learned about it's care and feel confident, get a second gecko. Caring for a single gecko is one thing, but trying to care for a breeding group, egging, incubation, and hatchlings is a whole different ball-game!

Then, work with the morph YOU like!

she has a male at 69 grams hes an albino and a female at 55 grams its a normal. i was thinking aout getting one more though, itll probably be a jungle.

i know they dont make money, i thought it'd be a fun project. i've bred herps before, colubrids, turtles and anoles, it'd just be fun to do something a little more "harder".

what strain is the albino? If you want to produce morphs you need to be sure that the genetics are there to produce what you want. For example, breeding any albino to a 100% normal will produce normal looking babies that carry the albino gene. There are three albino genes which are located on different places on the DNA strand, so breeding two different strain albinos wouldnt produce albinos either.

I'm starting out with tangs. I think they're one of my favorite morphs. I got a couple of really nice ones from GKO Reptiles between $50-$70 each. I  them. But just go with whatever you like.

i wont get confused w/ the genes as long as the 2 hets arent two diferent albinos correct?

MALE- (1) tremper albino het blizzard
(3) FEMALES (2)-Tangerine het rainwater albino,(1) Red stripe

I would make that a rainwater male and het rainwater females, or Tremper male and two het Tremper females. Not two different strains

If you want to produce albinos, sick to one strain. A tremper bred to a het RW or het Bell wouldnt produce albinos... Youd just get a random mess of possible hets and hets. The male tremper het blizzard would work with a group of tremper blazing blizzards, or trempers, or het trempers.

I've been putting together my breeding group this past year or so, and I plan to breed them next year when they are all mature. They include, but are not limited to: SHT's, Bell Hybino, Hypos, SH"s, and normals.
