I don't know if you've read the post titled gecko behavior on 12/16, but long story short. I've had my leo arabesque for about 1 week and two days. I haven't tried to handle him until this past Tuesday 12/16, well he opened his mouth in a warning so I left him alone for two nights and my patient has paid off! I got lucky tonight!! He let me pick him up:main_laugh: he even crawled across my back while I laid on the floor of course. I started out standing but as he crawled higher up my arm I got lower to the floor, LOL! SO my sister had to get him off my back and after that I figured out how to keep him from getting on my back again. My cats like to sit on my back too LOL! All in all it was a great experience from my first reptile pet!!! He's so cool!! I can't wait to handle him again!
Thanks Jess!! :main_yes:
Aw. I know how you feel. I was really excited the first time I picked up Tiamat. I was at the pet store where I got her and I was holding her as I was talking to the store clerk. She ambled up my jacket sleeve and rested under my jacket's collar. I probably could have walked out with her just snuggled under there but it was really cold outside. lol
I'm glad to hear that he came out on his own!! Sounds like you had a lot of fun with him and that he's adjusting to his home very well It's always nice to see one of our babies go to a great place with such a caring owner
Lol, I remember what it felt like to hold Kiya and Ares for the first time. I was a little afraid of holding any reptile at first, but when I saw Kiya it was love at first sight! I held her in the store, and apparently she really liked me because she walked all over me, which they said she had never done for anyone else.
Ares was a different story. He was purchased from the previous owner, so I never had to chance to hold him until I bought him. I found him very intimidating so I held off on holding him for a few days. When I finally did, I realized he is a big suck. As long as you don't disturb him if he is sleeping on you, all is good. Lol
