Its just so hard to let them go. My familys dog a german shepard/lab, after spending 10.5 great years with us passed on today. Since about 3 days ago he was acting very strange. We took him the the vet and found out that his kidneys had totaly failed. we decided the best thing to do was to put him down. I dont know if this forum is only meant for lizards, but i just wanted to tell somebody. I feel so horrable right now. even at 16 years old its just so hard to let them go.:(

Oh, I'm so sorry. I'd be heartbroken if it was my beagle. I hope that you're holding up, and the pain will go away soon, I promise. Kidney failure is so painful for an animal so you did the right thing. I hope you won't be put off giving your love to another animal one day, there are all sorts of dogs in shelters that need the sort of loving home you gave your shepard/lab. Keep strong out there.

Awwwwww... Allan. I am so very sorry you had to make the decision to say goodbye to 'Pooch'. Logically, we know it's the best thing we can do, but our hearts still tell us differently. There is not another creature that can take the place of our beloved family pets, but in time the emptiness will be filled with wonderful memories of the joy he brought to your lives.

One would think that if dogs are man's best friend, they would live as long as we do...

I'm so sorry for your loss, Allan. Having to say good bye to a dog you've had that long is one of the most painful experiences you can ever have. Pooch will always be out there looking over you though.

I am truely sorry for your loss. Doing what is best for one we love isn't always the easiest task in life. I hope that the pain will soon be replaced with all the wonderful memories of those 10.5 years.
