Gravid Crested Gecko

Hey guys,

I recently bought another female crested gecko who was thought to be gravid, and I can clearly see an egg forming in her. She does not seem like she is a very old gecko, still looks young. She is probably about 6 months old which worries me because she is not the correct weight to lay eggs. Is there anything you guys suggest that I do? I don't want her dieing! Also another thing, how many days does it take to lay the eggs, like from the day they are fertilized to the final day. Thanks guys, all advice welcome!!

i am just going to bump this up for you as i have no idea on the answer

what weight is she?

main thing is to make sure she is eating really well and getting plenty of calcium
do her calcium sacs look good?

well I know in leos it is like 2 weeks. so probably around that long. dont worry if she is tiny after she lays make sure she eats again. And yes ALOT of calcium.

Hey marvel,

Just thought I would chime in because it doesn't seem anyone has answered your direct question yet.

As both replies have said, make sure she is getting extra calcium by means of maybe reptical without d3.

As far as how long...in an adult female crested they begin to lay eggs about once every month.

If she truly is gravid and that young I would definitely suggest purchasing the calcium without d3 to dust crickets with, as well as giving her the crested gecko diet.

As stated females tend to lay about every 30 days give or take, even if they are under breeding weight. Be sure you have her seperated and give her an egg laying box, something a ssimple as a food storage container will work. I personally use perlite in mine but you can use exoearth also.

If she is 6 months old she is really far from breeding weight, these guys normally are around breeding weight at 14 months old or so, they are very slow growers. So I am going to guess the animal is a bit older then you think it is because for instance I have 4 month old geckos at 5g, 6 month old usually are around 10g, so she may be pushing more towards a year in age.

I would consider offering her crickets twice a week, and fill in with CGD the rest of the week. Be sure when offering crickets you are dusting with calcium W/O D3, you dont need to add any to the CGD as it has the correct balance.
