is tile grout okay to cover styrofoam backgrounds etc?

i dont see why it wouldn't be...you just have to make sure you seal it

You have to flush it with lots of water to neutralize it as grout and cements are very acidic. Other than that it should work fine. Lots of folks use grout in their PDF setups.

Use a non sanded grout, it will be easier to work with

I've never heard of it being toxic... but yes ... non sanded is easy to work with.

I enjoy making hides. Sealing it well is the main step.
