Gut Loading feeders

Hi I have a couple of questions, Was looking into buying a comercial feed for crickets "a gutload" feed...but would i be better of offering carrots and potatos> What else? Also do i need to blance them or can crickets or mealworms chew fresh(hard) carrots?

I have personally never used any commercial gutloads. I feel that using natural vegetables and fruits will better supply the geckos with the correct nutrition.

Our gutload to crickets, roaches and meal/super worms are the same. It consist of apples, carrots, bananas, oranges and chicken mash.

I've been using the flukers calcium cricket diet, but I'd love to switch that up to something else.

are you guys just tossing slices of the fruits and vegetables in the cage until it starts to spoil?

I agree. I've always gut loaded with carrots, potatoes, lettuce, and green beans. Never used any commercial gut loads.

That's the current line-up I'm using right now, all processed into a mash using a food processor. I'll know how well it's translating nutritionally later in this season with eggs from females fed on this mix.
