So, I recently moved my Leopard Gecko into the conservatory and it's so cold in there at night.

The general temp of the tank reaches about 20 degrees Celsius which is very worrying however I do have a under belly heat mat which does feel pretty warm when I put my hand on it.

It's currently 1:33 am in the morning so I'm guessing the temp will rise nicely during the day however I still want peace of mind.

The reason I moved the vivarium into the conservatory is because I'm getting a new TV and don't have much space in my room.

Cheers,

Lewis.

Some people feel strongly that the air in the gecko's environment should be quite warm. I feel that if the gecko has a hide on the hot side, as long as the temperature is comfortable for humans (I would consider 20C to be comfortable; that's the temp I heat my house to in the evenings), it should be fine for the gecko.

I agree^^. The belly temp in a warmhide is most important, and I also believe it to be generally nice to provide a comfortable ambient air temp (21C+). :)

Do you have a probe thermometer to measure the temperature of the surface just above the heat mat?

My son's gecko Lizzie has a warm spot at around 90* F/32.2* C (on a thermostat) and her hide traps the warmth from that fairly well. Even when the room temperature drops to around the 20* C you're worried about, she's been just fine.

I agree with the above posters. I only reccommend additional heating/lights if the room temperature falls below 18.5C (65 F). At 20 you gecko will be fine as long as it has a hide and an UTH around 32 :)
