my little friend had mouth rot. I only noticed yesterday she was sick and took her right to the vet! The vet said she was too far gone and had to put her down because she was suffering. I raised her from a tiny baby and she was 4 years old. We still have her tank-mate, Spot.

I this photo Bleu almost lost her leg a couple of years ago, but I managed to save it.

Hi Phoenix.I appreciate your condolences, I'm almost afraid to tell too many people because sometimes they think we are nuts for loving a tiny creature so much. The photo is a few years old from when she had an issue shedding and almost lost her leg. I soaked her every day for a week in warm water until the tight skin loosened enough that I could carefully cut it off with a tiny maniucure scissors. The vet and his assistant were so compassionate and caring - that made it a bit easier. Then I ran home to hold Spot and examine her. Her tail is super fat and she is fine, thank the Lord!!

This vet didn't charge a penny to put her down. I plan to take all my babies to him from now on, and I have a LOT of pets!!! :) My boyfriend is patient with me but doesn't truely understand my love for my critters.

People can be a bit passionate around here at times but no one here will ever get on you for loving any pet no matter the size. That is great you have a vet that is caring enough to do that.

You have my deepest condolences for your loss it is always a hard thing to deal with.

I'm so sorry you had to say good-bye to your pretty gecko. Making a decision like that is so very hard to do... and no, you aren't nuts to love a gecko that much.

my daughter, Lina, and I buried Bleu

my daughter, Lina, and I buried Bleu in the front yard last night and said a prayer. Lina said not to get a new one for a while but I went into the pet store to buy crickets for Spot and fell in love with a tiny baby :baby:. We named her "Sandy" - I will post pix when I get a moment!! Sandy is inside the tank with Spot but inside a smaller carrier until she is big enough to cohabitate. She is totally beautiful and ohhh so tiny. I put a coconut house in there that we used a long time ago for hermit crabs, if that tells you how little she is.

I checked Spot for mouth rot and she is healthy. Her tail is big and plump, her eyes bright, and she is frisky as always. Thank G-d she is OK!! :main_thumbsup:

Its always terrible when you lose pets so quickly :(

A new baby! :) Yay.
(just make sure she has the proper heat gradients in her container, sometimes they can get very hot and cook)

Spot has a totally clean bill of health. It cost me $72 but was well worth it for peace of mind, my daughter agrees!
