What are they? I get my crickets from pinellas county reptile and lately there have been these random worms in the bags with them. They're fast moving and hairy, otherwise looks like a dark waxworm. Almost seems like they might have feet how fast they move.. can anyone id them? I've been tossing them out but what are they?

Don't all worms have feet? ;) Wax worms do. I don't know what those are, but I get my wax worms from Timberline, and I have hairy, very fast, tiny black worms included for free :main_rolleyes:

I would assume they are not poisonous but other feeders those companies breed... and they got into your order because they're kept in neighboring containers, or crawled into them. You could do a test whether your leos like them. If so, you got an extra dessert for them. If not, just toss them out...

Sometimes I get black hairy worms when I buy crickets, but they don't look like this. The worms that I get sometimes are used by cricket breeders to as scavenger bugs that help keep cricket enclosures clean by eating cricket poop, dead crickets, etc. Maybe what you have there is another worm/larvae that serves the same purpose.

I've received roaches from two different people this year that had small worms. They are a lot thinner than waxworms and move fast. They gross me out, but I just assumed they were a cleaner bug. We tossed out some, but I wasn't going through everything to get them all. Hopefully they're harmless. I don't feed them to any animal.
