Hand-fed Enigma

Hello everyone.

Is it normal for Engimas needing to be hand-fed? I'm talking about the ones not exhibiting much of the syndrome.

One of my female enigmas has mealworms available all the time in a dish and never goes there to eat them, but when I shake them with some feeding tongs in front of her she eventually takes them. That's how she has been eating so far. Should I stop hand-feeding her and let her go for a while without eating until she learns on her own or just keep doing it manually? I'm talking about an enigma that doesn't exhibit much of the syndrome, for example she never spins or chases her tail, only rarely stargazes, although a breeder familiar with geckos would notice the slight difference in walking typical of any enigma out there. Otherwise she's active, exploratory and alert. Sheds great on her own only in a few minutes.

Some geckos don't go for food unless it is moving around alot. Maybe the ones in the dish aren't very active but as soon as you wiggle one in front of her she takes it because it is moving. Sometimes for example, my gecko takes the worms out of her dish and gives them a little head start to run away before she catches them and eats them because it feels like more of a hunt that just eating them out of a bowl when they are completely still. Or it could be an enigma thing, im not sure, I have never owned one.

My enigma eats fine on her own, but I choose to tong feed all my geckos.
I have some non-enigmas who will only eat this way.

So you think there is no point trying to let her go for a few weeks with food on her plate without tong-feeding to see if she learns to do it on her own?

Is it a big inconvenience for you to tong feed?
Not at all, but I would like to see her learning it and earning her own independence. Just more akin to a natural situation where she can choose when to feed without being dependent on the times I choose.
