Handling Gecko's and few others.

I couldn't find a specific thread on these few questions, if there is, please direct me to it :main_yes:

Right now, my guy/gal is about, 3 months old approximately.
I hold him about everyday, maybe for a minute or two, but keeping him close to the ground in case of leaps, or just holding him with my hand still in his tank.

Now, I've heard the point of doing this is to show the leo that you aren't going to eat him, right?

Are there some Leo's even when held from a young age just don't want to be held?

Mine seems okay, he is skittish at first, like when I go to get him, but once he is on my hands he just chills out, doesn't run or jump unless I make a fast movement.

Is there a certain age where they get pretty tame and don't flee when you first try to pick them up?

Is there a possibility of holding them too much when they are young, leading to a gecko that does not like being held?

sorry if I'm asking a lot of questions

Thanks for any and all replies:)

The most important thing is to have lots of patience with them, especially at the begining when they are still young. I don't recommend handling him every single day but maybe 2-3 times a week, otherwise he might be overly stressed out and you don't want that.
Keeping your hand in the tank on the floor is a great way to have him get used to you. I always make a habit of letting my gecko sniff (ie. lick) me at least once after I feed her so she can make the comparison that "me=food!" I've also heard leaving your scent on various pieces in the tank (hides, bowls, etc.) by rubbing your hands on them can help them get used to you.

they get more tamer as they get older. but female leopard geckos get tame but males are more tame. and hold them probably every other day for five minutes. thats just my opinion and it worked for my leopard geckos. but when their juveniles or adults handle them for 15 minute every day and they'll get tamer quicker.

I'm scared mine is going to bite me. Have you seen these things bite a cricket?

I put my hand in there and he walked towards it. I chickened out. He looked at my hand like it was dinner.

None of mine want anything to do with being picked up and held :p

I do pet them on the head every day, but they usually cringe and
shrink away :(
