My sweet loofa turned one yesterday :)

He was born with splayed legs that I got lucky enough to fix. I was stupid when I bought him... The breeder told he "He doesn't know how to walk yet". As I didnt' think it through then got home and thought this can't be right...and found out I was right.
Poor thing was in splits. He wouldn't eat or anything. He had so many vet visits, had braces on, his legs swelled up so many times...It was so hard to see him go through that :main_no: But I couldn't STAND him going back to the breeder where he would go to someone who had no money for vet visits or had no idea what to do. I promised I would help him and I got lucky enough that I did. -I wish I could find the pic, but you get the idea.

All the doctors said he's very, very lucky and so strong. I can't believe we fixed it. You can tell but he's complelty normal now! :)

Here's the pics! He's a BIG eater, he LOVES food, dancing and water :p

And yes, he's named loofa after the thing you wash him with...It was a joke then caught on. I would rub his face on my cheeks holding him and would say aww look at my loofa...and it caught on.

Hope you like the pics!:main_thumbsup:

Thanks guys! :)

Heather, most quakers are known for being 'nippy' or territorial if you don't teach them right. I make sure he sees new people all the time to prevent that. :) And I move his cage around a lot. He is nice to little kids too. Guess I got lucky ;) He can get nippy though, but that's if you have his toy and won't give it back!

He is so darling! Love my cats, but darn it that they make it impossible to keep a beautiful bird like your Loofa (my mom isn't convinced that two of our five wouldn't try to make a snack even out of a bigger african grey). Hehe, I love his name.

Thank you :) He's got a pretty good vocab too. :main_thumbsup:

When I had my Congo African Grey... our bengal FREAKED out when he saw her fly. Then was terrified of her. He'll still jump at the chance to get loofa though. :main_rolleyes:
