Have you tried the "Magic Eraser". I know it sounds too simple, but it has removed EVERY mess my kids have made on walls/floors/tile/glass so far. Could be worth a shot, it's only a couple of bucks and leave no toxic smell behind.

Any chemicals even how good you rinse shouldn't be used to clean an aquarium for fish. Most chemicals can leach into the water when it is trapped in the silicone.

thats the good thing about muriatic acid. it doesnt harm the fish. if anything, it will only very slowly decalcify stuff as it builds up on pumps and things, but i dont believe it leeches into silicone. but thats very true for other chemicals. CLR + fishtank = dead fish :D

Since you cant go outside, you can always work with it in the tub. the acid doesnt have horrible toxic fumes or smells like a lot of cleaning chemicals do.

I've never had that problem despite using CLR on several fish tanks. I guess it must be due to rinsing the aquarium very well and always keeping fresh activated charcoal in the filter.

A 20L tank is only a 5 gallon tank. By the time you buy the supplies to clean it would it not cheaper to buy another tank and not put anything at risk?

I'm not putting my leo at risk at all if I use CLR, am I? Considering I rinse it much more than needed?

Like I said, I've never tried this method. But I think I personally wouldn't use CLR. In retrospect, I recall how that stuff made me choke when I used it on the shower. I'd try the razor blade, but I suggest taking your time so as not to scratch the tank.

20L is 20 gallon LONG.... not 20 liters

Sorry, my mistake. When I see an L after that I automatically think litres. We have been conditioned to the metric system here since around grade 3 (showing my age). Everything is in litres, kilometres, kilograms and celcius up here, gallons, miles, ounces and farenheit are a thing of the past.

And 20 liters does not equal 5 gallons. 18 liters maybe, but not 20.

It was only an approximation.

When we used gallons they were imperial gallons and 20 litres is LESS than 5 imperial gallons. If you really want to split hairs 5 US gallons is 19 litres.

YES MAGIC ERASER!!!!

Ive cleaned tanks with them, and my nasty turtle tank came spotless clean, its a 40 gallon and it took 4 of them but it was well worth the $2.95 I spent on them.

(Got the idea from my kids messes on the walls, TV, windows etc too lol)
