So I've had my leos for a while now. The female for over 2 yrs and the male for almost one year. They were both resucues but she was very healthy. My poor boy was sooo skinny and neglected, he's still a little slow when it comes to eating, but hes active and happy now.

So my question is... Why if I've had them together for about a year has she never layed eggs? Whether fertile or infertile?

They get along great, never fight or bite eachother. They sleep in the cave together walk over eachother... They're super cute... But I've never seen any eggs! Why could this be?

I agree... you may have two females. Some females are quite 'bulgy' and can almost appear to be male.

My second thought is, that since you got the gecko as an adult rescue, perhaps she is just too old to ovulate. The other possibility is that the male is sterile.

The fact that they sleep together doesn't mean that they mate as well! Did you see any mating? Make sure the male is in fact a male, keep them separated for a while and than put the female in the males cage. Works every time for me!

I have a female who has been with a total of 4 males during the past 4 seasons. She produced a total of 5 babies with the first 2 males in 3 seasons, produced nothing with the third male who she was with for most of last season, and has produced nothing with the male she is with currently. I know he's mated with her. I don't even thing she's ovulating. She is retiring from breeding after this season. My point is that some females seem to have reduced fertility. She is 6 years old. So that may be another reason you haven't gotten eggs.

I don't want them to mate! lol And yes he's definitely a dude. his lil v shape spot is very prominent. I just was wondering if its normal for a female to never have laid eggs.

Ok, clear to me. Why don't you want them to mate and didn't you buy two females than? Personal I think the breeding part is the nicest of the entire hobby. Those little cuties running around and screaming at you... I can't wait for the first eggs hatch! :)

If you do not want them to mate, then you will need to separate them. Leopard geckos WILL mate whether or not you want them to. Also, it's not just the "V" sahped of the pre-anal pores that tell you if you have a male... a male will have very pronounced hemipenile bulges.

I agree, a photo of the two would help ID their genders.
