hatchling crix dying

My crix eggs have hatched but after a week some are dying.I keep them heated at 85 deg with feed and potato slices for a water source.i have shut the heat source off during the day and turning it back on during the night.Could this have caused them to die off ??

Water them with wet paper towels and you'll have better luck. But make sure the paper towel always stays wet.

Also make sure they have lots of ventilation.

Yes, ventilation is key! Humidity needs to stay low!
