Ive looked around and can't find her...and there are sooooo many places that little thing could have gone...I think she's gonna die...I just wanna cry!!!!! :bigcry: :bigcry: :bigcry: :bigcry: :bigcry: :bigcry: :bigcry: :bigcry:

First, figure out how she got out. If you have a rack, make sure the bins are really tight to the top of the shelf. I have an "overflow" rack that I bought and after I had a few geckos get out I realized that the design of the bins was such that they could get out. I initially used aluminum foil over each bin but have since replaced the bins. I have recovered hatchlings before, though not always. Turn out the light at night, get a flashlight and go around the perimeter of the room along the wall. You may find it. You can also put out a hide on the floor, in a corner near the original bin and some food and water.
Good luck,

Aliza

I heard dog whistles work on leopard geckos try it.

Joking...just keep looking.

Ok I started whistling before I scrolled further down and saw the "JOKING" :p
Yup Im trying everything!!!! I just took a flashlight and went everywhere!...she must have climbed her hide and I think the top of the bin was slightly open to help release some heat due to fluctuating temps. I just never thought this would happen!!! She was my second Tang!!! I can't believe I did that!!! She was the smallest hatchling of them all too!!! I placed a hide with a heat source under it a bowl of water and a dish of mealies right under the table with the hatchling are kept.

Oh I am just heartbroken i sure I hope she turns up!!!

are you certain it isn't in the cage somewhere? i've had it happen that i looked everywhere only to find the animal in its cage under the bedding. or could it have been eaten by a larger cagemate? it happens.

They get under paper towels and between layers. You might put out all the extra hides you have, with wet paper towel in them, placed strategically in corners under stuff. She will be looking for a secret place to hide in the dark. Think like a gecko, a smart one :) Hope it turns up!

Another idea to do.. i get escapes often.. working on getting it figured out..

but i put baking soda in a line along the bottom of my rack.. and infornt of a few places they normally hide.. easier to find.. they usually just go under my rack..

Make sure there are no holes that it can get outside or in the walls by. Lay pieces of paper across any doorways that have carpet with a line of flour all the way across. non carpeted floors, you don't need the paper. check in the morning for foot prints, then you'll know which room its in/to search. Place hides everywhere, I put at least two in each room. I've found all geckos I've lost once doing this. Hope you don't have cats! Good luck!

I had a frog eye gecko escape. We found him inside a roll of shelf liner. Unfortunately the cat found him first and he didn't recover from the attack. Hope you find the little guy

If you have other pets like cats and dogs I would try to put them in another area until you find the gecko. Any heating vents or duct vents I would cover in the mean time so the poot little thing does not fall into it. I know this was mentioned but did you check the hides ? My one girl when she was a baby she somehow wedged herself into a crack in the rock hide. Its was like not even half an inch large but she somehow fit and hid herself there. I thought she was missing and searched everywhere lol

Oh. Maybe bowls of mealwormsshould be put out too and you could count them in the morning to see if any are missing

How stressful. I'd be freaking out too. One time I thought Toon was missing. I was cleaning up poop and dead crickets and after lifting all the hides I realized I hadn't seen her! I opened the moist hide back up and she had burried herself under the paper towel. Well I hope you find her!

I have numerous hides out...small water bowl, and mealies...Ive searched all rooms, moved furniture and Im gonna do another go through. She was only just over a week old so there is nothing in the tub but caps for water and calcium and a old superworm cup hide and papertowl. And the other hatchling is the same size so it isn't a matter of one eatting the other. I am soooo upset this happened and that I haven't found her yet...I don't think she will live if I don't find her in the next day or so...she doesn't have a stores like a older geck! She was maybe 2-3grams and just starting to eat!
