This is the hatchling I found yesterday morning (6/23/07) It hatched some time during the night and I found it dead in the incubator.
Its internal structure seemed out of place even looking at it from the outside. one of the organs(the Liver I believe) was green, and the stomach was full of little air bubbles that were visible from the outside as well.

Yeah it does look like sand. I wonder what it could be?

The green part may be what's left of the yolk sac, and it looks like it may have gone rancid. The large organ on the upper bottom part is the lung, and it looks like it only had one. The smaller, purplish stuff in the lower part of the abdomen is the intestine.

do geckos have two equally sized lungs? i know in snakes, they have one big large one and one teeny tiny one.

The stuff that is in what I believe is the stomach are what I am shire are gas bubbles. they actually adjusted to the motion of the gecko when I picked it up.

I've only seen one dead leo hatchling before and it was extremely dark. I do not recal it being so transparent looking. I know from common sense when the heart stops so does the blood flow, but my lord, that little one looks like it never got any type of blood flow whatsoever to extremities. Again, just stating something that probably means nothing.
