Its Pre-moistened perlite. The whole point is so you don't have to add water :main_laugh: although it will only stay moist if its sealed. And if its not well you end up with a dry bag of perlite.

I used hatchrite last year.* It worked really well for me.* I hatched 8 out of 8.* Might have added water once during the incubation period for one clutch because I was worried.* Just keep an eye on the container that you keep the eggs in.* If you can see moisture built up on the sides of the container below the hatchrite level you will be fine.* Dont think you can go wrong with this stuff.* I have read that you should make one small pin hole in your container and I have read not to put any holes in your container.* But that you should open the container once a week for gas exchange.* Good luck.

I admit, I used it, and so far, so good.
But about once or twice a month, I did a "pinkie test": if I could stick my pinkie in to the bottom of the container and it came out dry - no slight sensation of coolness from water evaporating - I would add somewhere between a teaspoon and a tablespoon of water in two diaggonal corners against the wall, away from the eggs. The idea was to get a little more moisture, just a tad, under the eggs, not on them.

But then, I am a novice incubator, and maybe I open my containers too often out of fretting they don't get enough air to breathe.
