well this weekend i went to the san diego zoo and they were supposed to have a gecko exibit this week and next. turns out they only had day geckos there the only cool thing was i got to see a guy eat a mealworm eww... he said it tastes like chicken. anyone else ever eat them?

Unless I was on a show like "fear factor" and I was getting money to do it, I don't think that I would ever be eating a creepy crawler no matter what some guy said it tasted like.

fried and cooked into chocolate it reminded me of a nestle crunch bar.

The live one I ate tasted like apples (they were raised for 1 week on apples).

So yes, I have tried them. It was optional at the end of my EPWS 325 (Entomology, Plant Pathology, and Weed Science 325 - Humans, Insects, and the Environment) class at New Mexico State University. I also tried fried crickets covered in chocolate. I'll probably never try it again, but I can at least say that I have tried crickets and mealies, straight or chocolate covered. I'll leave the eating of such to my critters - no chocolate of course

I made a bet with my grandchildren that if they would kiss a mealworm I'd give them $20. Neither would do it. Then they bet me that they'd give me $20 if I kissed one... so I licked it. They both went, "Eeeeewww, Grandma!!!!!", but niether of them had the $20 to pay up. So, I made them work it off by pulling weeds in the yard.

LOL, I've eaten neither....although it's great when you can get paid for something you do like....like cake....I never could understand that one. "Sure, Grandma! I'll eat cake for $5!" :main_yes: :main_rolleyes: That's what funded my first gecko fund....

I haven't eaten a mealworm, but the manager at Petsmart and my mom paid me to eat a cricket. I was little and needed money so I got twenty dollars. HaHa. It didn't really taste like anything.

I would have to make alot more then $20 to eat any type of creepy crawler. It took me months just to get to where I would touch one likewise put one in my mouth. Now I love my lizards but I am less then fond of the bugs that I have to feed them.

That actually hurts! I have gotten hit by so many flies or bugs going around 45mph in the face and boy does it surprise you.
