Finally! After weeks of not eatting, the baby food, and slurry. I must say I was quite surprised when Dante showed interest in the mealie that I set down. I figured it would be a wasted attempt but figured might as well. So what did he do? He gobbled up two!

Hell, I know it's not that big of a deal, but if def. stregthens my hope on the wee one pulling thru. :D

I know the feeling. I always get excited when Tiamat eats after a hunger strike; even if it is very little. Congrats! Here's to many more mealies!

they all seem to go through little hunger strikes from what Ive read and personal experience. Mine went through one a few weeks ago, and ate 1 meal worm in about 2 weeks, his tail started to get a little smaller and i got worried then one day he ate 10 large ones, and has been eatting better since. his tail is fatter then ever. Best of luck with the little guy, hope he fattens up quickly like mine did.

my leo had been eating anything and everything since ive had her, and has recently shown next to no interest in eating mealworms anymore... (which sucks because I was thinking about switching to just mealwoms cause my wife cant stand the crickets due to a recent mass escape lol) even with the crickets though she is only eating 2 or 3 out of the 5 that I give her. its been about 2 weeks since she stopped eating normally and is starting to loose a little tail weight... its still pretty fat, but it was bigger... should i be worried? how long should I wait before i take more action?

How old is she?
She might be ovulating.
I got a gecko at the end of March, that I can count on ONE hand how many things she's eaten since being with us.
I was a SPAZ worrying about her. I was JUST ABOUT to take her to my local exotic animal vet when she FINALLY ate a super worm I placed in her bowl.
And we had tried EVERY feeder. We tried different sized crickets-no interest.
We tried different sized roaches-no interest. We tried different sized mealies-no interest. We tried WAX WORMS-no interest.
She had gone from 49 grams to 41.9 grams, and I was worried sick.
My husband convinced me to wait it out as he believes she's ovulating. We took pictures of her belly, sent them to a breeder friend, and got conformation that it appeared she's ovulating.

But she finally ate.
We're still not in the clear as it appears she's only eating about a super worm a day. But that's better than basically a two month hunger strike.

I've had her for 6 months and she was defiantly a juvenile when i got her... she has probably doubled in size since then... I guess if they can go without eating for a month or so, I won't sound the alarm just yet, especially since she hasn't completely stopped eating... how long can mealies last in the refrigerator? The ones i put in her dish just keep pupating and then die so I guess ill stick to crickets for a while
