Hey guys,

I came home tonight and checked on my 10 1/2 year olds and I noticed one of them had regurgitated about 6 to 8 mealworms. There was also a runny fecal. Currently our temperatures are at 89-91 in the hot spot. At the time, there was two females in a 32 QT Tub. They are now separated, first time they've been separated since I got them 10 1/2 years ago. The substrate which is used is paper towel. Their diet is mealworms from Sunshine Mealworms. About 2 months ago, they were both with a male for 3 days. One of the geckos has laid 3 fertile clutches and the other appears to have no signs of being pregnant. The one who has not laid any eggs has lost 4 grams in the last 2 weeks.

I have also included a few pictures, one of the mealworms, one of the fecal, and two of the gecko's belly which I believe was regurgitating the mealworms. She was standing over them when I came home.

We are calling around tomorrow to find a qualified reptile vet in the Portland area. If anyone knows anybody, please let us know.

Thank you,

Kyle Johnson

hopefully its just a one off. was the male your gecko too or a 'stranger'? is the male sick? i didnt think that at 10 and a half years old geckos could get gravid but i guess they can hehe. see if it continues to happen. mine sometimes regurgitate superworms if they have been greedy and eaten too many in one siting but then the runny feces is odd. i dont know. all i would suggest is keep an eye on her and if it happens a few more times then take her to a vet :)

The male is my gecko too. He is in perfect health. I separated the two females last night so I can be 100% sure on who is having the problems.

I'm calling around today to find a qualified vet in the Portland area.

Thanks,
Kyle

Hopefully it is just a one time occurence. If your gecko is over fed it can regurgitate its food but I would say it's a parasite infection. You should take your geckos to the vet. Your vet will need stools samples. Its good that you quarantined them so you will lessen the risk of spreading the parasite. It might be a good idea to get all of the geckos tested. I know if you feed crickets and leave them in the cage for a few days the crickets will eat the geckos facies. When the crickets eat the facies they get the parasites with it. When your geckos eat the crickets it multiplies the amount of parasites in the geckos body. If a parasite is found in your gecko you will have to sterilize the geckos enclosure every day or every time it poops. You should house the gecko with just the bare minimum in cage furniture so its easier to clean and disinfect. You will have to continue cleaning and disinfecting until the situation is resolved.

Kyle she appears to have a few follicles, 3 or 4 hard to tell, but at least 3. Are you sure the male got her? I'd have her checked out just to be on the safe side.

Felicia,

The one which is giving me the issues right now is not laying eggs and hasn't seen a male since Feburary. She has lost two grams over the last month, but recently has eaten a few waxworms. I figured I'd try some Waxworms since she's been picking at the mealworms. Her fecals have looked pretty normal recently which is a good sign. Over the last few weeks though, she has started to look old and looks like she is aging. We're looking to make an appointment for her next Tuesday.

she looks like she is ovulating and with that and age it may be taking it's toll on her

Well guys, she was more than just ovulating, it appears the male got her. She was just too stubborn to lay her eggs with the other female in the tub with her. She laid two beautiful eggs yesterday and looks 100 times better. Thank you all for your help!
