Hi all,

I thought I'd let everyone know about a competition being run on an Australian forum. The prize is a Knob-tailed Gecko (Nephrurus levis) and all you need to win it is to identify the subspecies to which each of 30 pictures belong (occidentalis, levis or pilbarensis). To be elligible to win you need to be a resident of Australia and hold the relevant permit, however, anyone is welcome to play (if you're not in Australia, it's just for fun) and for anyone interested in Knob-tailed Geckoes it will be lots of fun just to look at 30 pictures of some very nice looking lizards!

If you'd like to see the pictures (and maybe play the game!), check out the page:

Here is a sample of the pictures on display :)

Sounds fun... I don't really know my Knobbies, but I'll give these three a shot...

1. pilbarensis
2. levis
3. occidentalis

Am I right?

420Geckos: I can't give away the answers until this round of the competition is over ;) I can tell you in a few days :) If you'd like to play the game and identify (or just admire ;) ) as many of the 30 geckoes as possible, follow the link :)

bittner: Great! Looking forward to hearing from you! :D

Trizzy & 'Freak: I'm glad you think so too! I certainly had fun photographing such beautiful lizards!

I should have mentioned this in my first post, but thank you to the site owners for giving me permission to notify everyone about this competition/collection of pictures!

I just looked at the link and wow there's a lot more variation in the different species than I thought! You're lucky to have such fascinating geckos native to your country/continent!

The variation really is amazing! We certainly are lucky to have them here, but you're lucky enough to have them over there too, along with a few morphs we don't have over here yet! I wish I could swap some! ;)

The next 10 pictures will go up tomorrow (Australian time) and you only have about another eight hours to get your answers in if you want to play the game, so hurry :)
