Hi guys, need some help...

i just found a 150wats heat lamp in my house, no idea where it came from.
so i thought: ok, let's give some light to my gecko!

the thing is: where do i have to place it?
should it be on the warm side? middle? cool side?
and also, how high? i'm afraid that too close may bother him because of the light.

thanks!

It would be good to put the lamp on the warm side. You can put it on the screen or clamp it to the tank. I don't know what wattage the light bulb will be, but if you are using an uth be careful that it doesn't overheat the tank.

on this cage i don't use an uth, i have a heat rock.
i just got one UTH and it's on the female cage.
i know it's sounds "stupid" but here UTH are not that common to find.
hopefully the vet that sold me the last one he had, will recieved some more at the end of the month.

and also they are more expensive. i bought the SMALL UTH 6"X8", it cost me U$S50.
another thing i remeber too is the zoomed heatcable 15watts U$S40!!!

so, if you wanna make a good cage for your geckos in Argentina....it's gonna cost you a lot!! :p

Are you able to order from a US site and have it delivered to your home in Argentina? I have a feeling it would be cheaper to get a UTH that way. Heat rocks are generally considered potentially dangerous because they can malfunction and create a "hot spot" where your leo can burn itself :/

yeahp, i was aware about heat rocks. that was the main reason why i bought the uth in spite of the price.
you know, here most of leo owners (at least the ones i know) use heat rocks.
its like a bad habit but also a little bit understandable due to the lack of "equipment". i can manage to built a cave with or a ladder for example, but some things like heaters....:S

perhaps i can try with a 75w lamp until i get another uth. 'cause he spend a lot of time next to the heat rock. it gives me the feeling he is not warm enough. i've seen friends how wrap the heat rock with paper towel so the gecko can lay down on in without getting burn. havent try out though

i would advise you if you can to buy online say from a reptile supply distribution site such as LLLreptile or amazon has some of the same products (zoomed, exoterra, etc).
