Heat Mat question

I've been using a Zoo-Med heat mat for my gecko. However, it seems to only keeps the temps at a high of high 70's. It has started to affect my gecko's appetite.

Are there any other brands of heat mat that work better?

Try a bigger heat mat maybe? My Zoo Med mats work just fine for me, but one heat mat I bought recently for my 55 gallon was this. I've only seen these on ebay but I'm sure one of the many pet supply sites might have them. They come with a built in dimmer and you can choose the setting (high, medium, low, and off).

It sounds as if you have a defective UTH or else it isn't adhering to the bottom of the cage. If you have the ability, check that it's putting out as much wattage as it's supposed to.

I think that maybe the reptile carpet may not be retaining enough heat, so I just replaced it with paper towel. I'm hoping that works.
