Hello everyone! I need a bit of advice on the lighting and heating of my leo(Finn). I have been keeping the warm side at 80 degrees F and 70 on the cool end. He seems to be doing fine. I just need to know if I need to make any adjustments because i have heard many many different temps. I use an UTH and a heat bulb. Secondly do i need a light because I have heard that a bright light will stress leos out. Should i use a red bulb or none at all? Thanks in advance!:)

The most important change is to adjust the uth....you need a floortemp of 90-f. As to the bulb debate, atleast make sure it is not very bright and not a "basking" or even a UV light. I use a 40watt redlight to bump up my ambient air temps (not as important as floortemp) and my leos dont seem to mind. :)

Get a lamp dimmer (rheostat) or, better yet, a thermostat. This will keep the heat at the temperature you set (thermostat) or reduce the output of the UTH and you can play around with it until it's just right (rheostat).

Did you test it on the UTH itself or on the floor where your leo is? From what I have seen a good general temp is between 89-92°. IMO they don't need a light since they are nocturnal but if you need heat I would say get a CHE.
