Heating cable?

Can you use heating cable from a hardware store to heat racks? like the heat cable for pipes and stuff?

Also, how many watts a foot should I be looking for to hget up to temps of 94 degrees?

it is not recommended as those cables have thermostats built into them that will turn of the cable before it gets to warm.

Why not just get real heat cable for them...the price is about the same.

I wouldn't use it personally, simply because I would rather shell out a few more dollars to ensure my animals are safe. If you wanna try it then set up a test tub/tank and see how accurate it can hold temps for you and if at will be able to effectively operate as a heating source for your geckos. If homedpot or whatever hardware store you get it from would take it back after opening and using it...it can be a free test.
