Heating question?

Im a little worried about this.

normaly i have 2 thermometors stickerd to the inside glass I thought it would work. one hot one cool. Now im changing from sand to tile so i got a digetal thermometer that you just point at the serface and click to get a reading. The reading didnt match the stickered one on the cage. the ground was 10 degrees warmer. around 94-98 degrees
the thermometer stickers said it was 82-86 heat side

What should the suface temp read? should i ignor the stickered ones?
Have I been letting the cage get to hot for this long?

surface should be 90-92F on the hot side and 10degrees lower or so on the cool, put the temp probe on top of the substrate.

Any ideas too cool it down?

What are you using as the source of heat?
