Hi, my name is Chad and I know nothing about geckos. I guess that is why I am here. I have always found them to be interesting little creatures when I look at them at the local pet shop but never bothered to learn about them. Now I have an interest in maybe keeping a gecko or two so I thought I better take some time and learn about them first. I'll be doing lots of reading and I look forward to meeting everyone. I have limited experience in reptiles/amphibs besides when I was a little kids catching frogs, toads, and salamanders from the pond across the street. I do currently have a 75 gallon vivarium with 5 poison dart frogs.

Also, I am kinda lost here. No section for the beginner? I am not sure what gecko I want as a first but I would like something that would do nicely in a tropical vivarium.

welcome!

Hey Chad,

In the leopard gecko forum you probably won't find anything for a tropical vivarium, since leopard geckos are desert dwellers from Pakistan, Afghanistan, and India. Look under the link "other lizards," etc., and you will surely find many pictures and ads about tropical lizards that like a humid environment :main_yes:

Or, think about setting up a different tank :D There's a section here about cages with pics of setups appropriate for all kinds of reptiles. I'm new here, too (well, 3 months), and got lots of good hints how to furnish my cages (and also made some very good deals on about 20 geckos here).

Good luck, and hope you find some nice geckos for your viv :main_thumbsup:

Greetings,

Chrissy
