hi everyone. i've been lurking around here for a while, but haven't posted until now. my name is robert and i live in philadelphia, pa, usa, and i think i've gone gecko crazy. several months ago i saw these lizards in the pet store chasing after a cricket and i have to say it was the cutest thing i've ever seen. leopard geckos? i've never heard of those! so, i started some research into them and found out they're perfect apartment pets. then i started my search for a pair. the pet store was charging as lot for a pair of normals ($100!!!), and everything i read online lead me to believe that there existed cheaper ones somewhere. so, about a month ago i literally stumbled into this perfect find. i now have 7 leopard geckos. yup. 7. 4 are adults and have always coexisted: 1 blizzard male, 1 albino female (unfortunately he didn't know what type), 1 hypo tangerine female and 1 high yellow female. i can't even tell you how cool they are. around the same time i got those, though, a friend of mine went to a herp and bird show in pittsburgh, and kindly picked out 3 babies for me. yup. 1 tremper albino, 1 mack snow and 1 reverse stripe. they were VERY small, and the guy selling them said it was too soon to sex them. they have since grown a lot and i swear they eat twice as much as the adults do.

so, yeah, i've gone a little insane, but finally i have pets that combine my 2 greatest childhood fascinations: lizards and bugs (omg i can't even tell you how cool it is to play with the feeders and watch them just eat and eat and eat...i'm even thinking about starting a roach colony). since i've gotten them the hypo tangerine and the high yellow have shed their skin, and i guess i have a couple questions about that. they both used the moist hide during their sheds, they ate their skin, but the tangerine still has a little bit of skin left on a few toes, and the high yellow has some skin left on her eyelids. the tangerine just shed a couple days ago, so i'm not so worried about her, but the high yellow shed a week ago and still has that little bit of old skin on her eyelids. does it normally take this long to get rid of all their old skin? i still see her in the moist hide from time to time. the tangerine seemed to go through her shed so much faster.

ok, sorry if this is overly long, but i'm new, so you'll have to bear with me. :) thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum! Shedding can be a problem, but as long as your set up is right it shouldn't be a reoccurring problem. Keep the humid hide on the warm side of your set up. In the mean time, you can soak your geckos in slightly warm water. Remember, warm to them is 92 ish. You can also use a damp Q tip to work off the old skin. It is important to get the old skin off. They can actually loose toes due to unshed skin.
