Help! An egg and no incubator!

While I was away on vacation, one of my geckos laid her first egg. I found it a when I returned, but it was too late. I figured it would be a while before the next egg. I was just going to order an incubator this afternoon, when I came home and found another egg. It has been sitting on the warm side, not in the humid hid thing. It has a dent in it too.

Is it too late? Should I try and make a homemade incubator? What should I do with it?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Draba

I like the idea someone before suggested of putting it in its incubation container and leaving it on the cool side of the cage, depending upon what your cool side is, until you get your incubator.

There are a lot of things you can do with the goal being to find a place to keep the egg where the humidity can be maintained and it can be kept at a steady temperature somewhere between approximately 80 and 89. Some people have places in their homes that meet these criteria. You may be OK if you put it on either the hot side or cold side of your enclosure, depending on what your temps are on each side. In my enclosure I'd be putting it on the hot side since I think it would get too cold on the cold side (I'd be keeping it above the floor of the enclosure since the temp on the floor is aboutn92 and that's too hot.

it needs more moisture if it is dented in on one side, and the temp needs to stay with in 80-90, no major fluctuaions,...

if the substate it's on is dry, moistion it a little, and put a damp paper towle over the dented egg for about 12-24 hours, that should take care of the dent. All though, this is her first clutch? If so they may be infertile.

Way back when I first got into leos I didnt have an incubator either. So I just put the containers on top of my cable box. The cable box kept them warm enough to incubate =) hope that helps till you can get an incubator.

I placed mine under the fridge. There's constant warm there, and it hatched successfully in 41 days. Hope that helps.
