Im not sure about a refund as they may attempt to blame me. The company seems very nice though,, ill shoot them an e-mail. Would it be dangerous to use it this way?? I did tape the ends opposite the cord, and I did not cut threw any black heat strips. It is appering to heat fine and evenly, and it does not transmit threw the tube, however I don't want a fire or something funny???

Well, if there is a bad plastic coating over the metal wires along each side it would be fine as long as nothing conductive crossed the two. Your hand has a lot of resistance so when you put it across the flexwatt the current flow is very low. If you spilled liquid or put something metallic across the width of the plastic it would most likely destroy some of the heat tape and could cause a fire. Oh, and there is no way they could reasonably blame you for something like this.
