So I had walked into the +++++ down the street from where I live. I noticed a little leo sitting in a 5 gallon cage. He is an adult by the way. Skinny as can be and looks like he has no eyes. I asked why they had him like this and they said because a kid brought him in and said if they didnt take him he would let him go. So i adopted the little guy and started wondering about his eye. He tilts his head so he can see out of it and it seems as if he can't keep his head straight. I poured saline solution in his eye and he opened it up and it looked like this.. Please help what do you think it is? lo.jpeg

Take it to the vet please!!

That is truly horrific. I feel terrible for this creature, absolutely awful. Glad a caring person found it and hopefully it's life can be saved...

I do have one slight problem. I can not find a vet that treats reptiles and no one else will see him. Is there ANYTHING I can do to help him?

Does this help?

Herp Vet Connection

I agree that it looks to be retained shed. It needs to be cleaned out of the eye or it can lead to infection and subsequent blindness.

I would try a gecko sauna to see if that will help loosen the shed, then use a damp q-tip to very gently try and work the shed off.

A vet is your best option though as retained eye shed is often difficult to remove, and in case infection has already begun to set in.

If you want, I can describe exactly what the vet did for my gecko to remove the shed. And she said I can do it myself now, but if there's infection you're OOL without a vet, and if you screw up you can definitely damage the eye (I've seen a gecko with his eye actually pulled out because an owner pulled off eye shed). I definitely say find a vet if at all possible.

Do NOT try to fix this problem at home.
He needs a vet or you need to bring him to someone who can afford to bring him there.
