I have 2 female geckos. One is a tang and the other is a SHTCT. I put the new one(the SHTCT I got today) in the tang's 20ga long and the tang bit her. The other one freaked and I took my tang out cuz she will let me hold her. I got the other one out of there, put her in the critter carrier, and my gecko is bak in her tank. What is a safe way to introduce them again? On the bed so they don't feel like either is intruding on another's territory? Please help me. At first, my gecko just walked around the new one and licked her. Then they went into their seporate houses. After a few minutes, they came out to see who was in the tank(eachother). The new gecko went into my tangs house and the tang followed. I'm not sure what happened, but the new one jerked and my tang sort of jumped, and I think one might have bit the other. I don't have an extra tank right now, but a friend is going to let me borrow her 2 1/2 gallon fish tnk. That will have to do for now till I can find a 10 gal. or get the geckos to except eachother. The 2 1/2 is bigger than the critter carrier I have her in now which is good. Once again, how can I re-introduce them? Thanks ahead of time!!!!

The best thing to do is just sit and watch, until a fight breaks out.

Sometimes, when leos are housed alone, they are frightened or jumpy with new geckos, and will need time to get used to them.

If they are fighting each other, you rather would keep them seperate, because one may get seriously hurt or killed.

I agree that they can be very jumpy at first. Perhaps one just startled the other. One good thing to do is completely clean the tank, then put both back in. Daisy is used to having the tank to herself, and the whole tank smells like her. The new one would feel more at ease if there were new smells for both of them to explore :) You could try that, and/or try introducing them together on the bed for a few minutes as well. Good luck!!

Emily-I mean no offense by this what-so -ever but if you just got that SHTCT today-you need to quarantine it in it's own tank for at least 30 days

I do 90 day Q periods

Also-the new Gecko is stressed enough with being moved to a new home and confrontations with another gecko will stress it even further

Let her settle into a tank of her own and then try re-introducing them in a neutral place or a tank that has been completely washed out and dried after the Q period is over

Good Luck with your new gecko!

Yes, I know about quarentine, but I don't have a place for it. Plus, I got both geckos from the same breeder, therefore, I know both their health backrounds. Good news! They are in the 20gal together now, and it turnes out, my gecko had startled the other gecko when she licked her to say hi and see who she was. Now they are curled up in my geckos big green house and getting to know eachother. They have been on the bed together a couple times before putting them back in the tank to try again, so I did do that. Thankyou for your help!!!!

wow ive always heard Q periods should be 3-6 months. As for the fighters the best thing to do is introduce one they are probably gonna fight a little bit as there are going to be some dominance issues coming into play if they just nip at each other a couple times i wouldnt worry about it thats prolly one of them saying "hey this is my home and im the boss" If they start really biting each other then separate them
