i adopted her and another from a friend who obtained them and didnt want them
I think she is pregnant but i was reading around and though maybe she may have an impaction or something please let me know what u think
On the photo it looks indeed as if there are two eggs in her! Do you want hatchlings? If no, just provide her with a moist shed box, let her lay the eggs, and then throw them out. It's kind of late in the season, so she might be done laying after that. If not, you'll get 2-3 more pairs of eggs every 3 weeks or so.
If you do want the babies, you will need an incubator (the Hovabator is probably the cheaptest one out there), a thermostat, substrate to incubate in, and a closed tupperware container. All together you might spend about 100-200 bucks on that, because thermostats are quite expensive.
The eggs don't look like they're due yet; they are too small. In a week maybe you'll know more. Can you ask the person you got her from whether she was in with a male, and which one (the other one you got)? You will want to identify the morph of the babies.
The mother's tail doesn't look very thick for breeding (but the photo is from below, so it's hard to tell). Make sure she gets lots of food (which she will probably refuse if she is indeed gravid), and let her have calcium available to lick from at all times. She'll need that to form the egg shells.
This does not look like impaction at all. Impaction wouldn't be parallel on both sides, and it would be dark, not white, most likely. It would be in the stomach, and not at the sides where the eggs are. The only other thing in my opinion it could be is calcified eggs (which she should have laid, and didn't). You can just hope she passes them eventually, or reabsorbes them. If they are healthy and develop, they'll come out, so you'll know soon one way or the other!
Good luck We'll be checking the hatchling section for pics in about 70 days, just in case :main_laugh:
Thank you soo much chrissy i think my friend has an incubator i can use her tail does seem somewhat on the thinner side especially compared to the male she was being housed with up untill recently. she eats well but i will try to feed her more
I'm by NO means a professional but looks like eggs to me as well and more probable if she was housed with a male... good luck and hope all works out fine no matter what you decide to do... but I may add that if you do decide to "throw them out" (the eggs) that you freeze them first to insure that they are dead and then throw them away. Very unlikly that the eggs would live and hatch but better to be safe than sorry in my opinion.
Sometimes females will stop eating several days prior to laying eggs. Keep mealworms in a dish for her at all times, maybe she'll have a snack meal. Do offer food more than usual shortly after she lays, to help her regain some weight.
yea but it seems like she hasnt been eating way longer then before developing the eggs.. and the way they are sticking out of her sides dosnt seem good neither .. I hope she gets through them ok. Keep her by herself from now on until the little girl gets some weight on her
shes been by her self for quite a while and she hasnt been eating for almost a week now she was pretty small before hand but she usually eats and was gaining weight
Well hopefully in a couple of days then you will have eggs somewhere and this problem will resolve itself. Also IDK if you can do this or not but when my son's ball python went on a very long hunger strike a B12 shot helped stimulate his appetite... pros... can you do that with Leos too?
