- Sex female
- Age & Weight 3-4 years old, was 50+ grams end of summer early fall now only 27 GRAMS:main_no:
- How long have you owned your leo this is the second year
- Where was he/she obtained (ex. Pet store, breeder, wild caught, friend) bought online with two other geckos, other two geckos are fine and actually getting fat they are ovulating but still eating.

A) Health/History
- How often do you handle your leo once a week in hopes that she will eat.
- Is your leo acting any different today? If so how does he/she normally act which differs from now. Last spring she did the same thing, she was probably 41 grams from the 50 +and was on a hunger strike i decided to breed her and she started eating and laying, was good until she quit laying then she quit eating. thought she was just going off food for a month, but havent been able to get her to eat at all. I drip water on her nose but she doesnt lick it off, or i would get some liquid vit.
- Has he/she had any problems in the past, if so please describe. above
B) Fecals
- Describe (look any different than normal) just drinks water hasn't eaten anything. she walks away from the food, mealworms, roaches, crickets.
- When was the last time he/she went just has urite
C) Problem
- Please briefly descrive the problem and how long it has been going on
same as above, when i got her she wasnt eaten, she was ovulating, decided not to breed her since i just got her then she lost 5 grams or so decided to breed her, which got her appetite back. then she quit laying and quite eating around the same time.
All other geckos are fine. first time this ever happened. no exotic vets around to help. I had her in the incubator for the last two months for higher temp. it was 8o air temp on bottom of bator and 88-90 at top)second level) didnt make a difference so i finally moved her back into a bin last week. I am thinking of putting her out of her misery since she is getting so thin, she still moves around, "spark" is still in her eyes.

Housing:
A) Enclosure
- Size shoe box size in bin system
- Type (ex. glass tank)
- Type of substrate paper towels
- Hides, how many, what kind Tupperware hide for shedding and small hide just to hide.
B) Heating
- Heat source heat cable
- Cage temps (hot side, cool side) 85-90 depending on air temp.
- Method of regulating heat source thermostat
- What are you using to measure your temps temp reader from walmart, has cable for indoor and outdoor, also have another one just in case, read the same temp.
- Do you have any lights (describe) no
C) Cage mates
- How many (males, females) none, she was with a female briefly last summer but separated once i got my rack
- Describe health, or previous problems

Describe Diet:
A) Typical diet
- What you're feeding (how often, how much) was trying to feed once a day, but went to every other day and she wont take anything, she has mealworms in her "cage" which she hasn't touched.
- How are you feeding (hand fed, left in dish, ect) tweezers and in container
B) Supplements (describe how often) cal in container
- What vitamin/minerals are you using (list brands)
- What are you gut loading food with everything, dog food, cat food, gamerbird feed, oranges, carrots, potatoes, oatmeal

Down to 27 grams? To lose half of the body weight sounds suspiciously like a parasite infection. If you make up the slurry and she eats enough to make a poop for fecal testing, it would show common parasites. To be that age and weight I would suspect crypto which would not show in the standard test. Gex can be carriers and not show symptoms for quite a long time, until their health becomes compromised for any reason, then crypto will rapidly take over. I'm not saying that's the case with your gecko, but just suspicious. Can you post a pic?

well its been since summer/fall and this is spring so it wasnt quick.

I took my tortoise to the vet last year for an URI, he knew less then i did, and i was charged $150:main_lipsrsealed:

i just took these photos, the camera is new and it doesnt take good photos for some reason my old camera took better photos but the card isnt working anymore.
she was not happy about the flash
I will go to the store tomorrow for the goodies i hope it works.

the last month is when she lost the remaining weight in her face, its so sad, i feel so horrible. :bigcry:

last photo is of her last year when she was laying and eating, she was also housed with another gecko.

She's a pretty girl. I'm not a vet by any means but have dealt with parasites with some gex I've taken in for rehab. She looks bad but I've seen worse, much worse. She needs that slurry with as much of the stuff you can find in it, the human stuff is available at walmart type stores, and get the pet food monday. For water, she should be having pedialyte cut with water 50/50. Even if she only consumes a little when you drip it on her, it will help hydrate. Let your vet know you will need to bring in a poop sample for testing as soon as it happens.

Your girl doesn't have the pencil tail so prevalent with crypto :)

Honestly I would for go waiting for a fecal before taking it to a vet. They can administer liquids and can get a sample from the bowel without the fecal sample. I wouldn't jump the gun to crypto. I'm guessing more of a parastic load. I would remove it from all other geckos to be on the safe side as to not infect the other's in the colony with the mystery illness

The ingredients in the slurry recipe have been proven to be effective.

it helps aide while being treated by a vet. it is not a cure all. simply a supplement. some people use this instead of going to a vet. it is not a replacement for medial attention.

like i said in a early post, no reptile vets around here. I found one that will let you bring one in but they just read up on the internet or book to help. usually the only thing they can do is fecal, antibiotics. not much else. not their fault they specialize in dogs and cats. and they charge a high office call as they are exotics.

Thanks for your help. Ill try to get a fecal. never wormed my geckos before so could be they problem. worm my cat, dog, chickens and horses but dont know much about gecko worms. i guess they would get it from their food.

well the slurry will not cure an infection, virus or parasite load
